Mr. Channel Changer Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 30, 2026
Last Updated: September 30, 2026
1. Introduction
Dumpster Hill, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with the Mr. Channel Changer mobile application ("App"), a remote control for Samsung Smart TVs.
Key Principle: Mr. Channel Changer is designed with your privacy in mind. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. The App talks only to the TV on your own home network, and everything it remembers stays on your device.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
Mr. Channel Changer does not collect:
• Your name, email address, or any account information
• Your location or device identifiers
• What you watch, which apps you open, or which buttons you press
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to us
• Advertising IDs or tracking identifiers
We have no servers, no accounts, and no backend. There is nothing to collect.
3. What Stays on Your Device
To work as a remote, Mr. Channel Changer remembers the following, stored only on your device:
• The TVs you have paired with, including each TV's name, model, local network address, and network hardware (MAC) address, which is used only to turn the TV on over your network
• The pairing key your TV issues when you choose "Allow" on the TV, which is stored encrypted using your device's secure key storage
• A fingerprint of your TV's security certificate, used to make sure the App keeps talking to the same TV
• The list of apps found on your TV, any colors or pictures you choose for them, and a background photo if you set one
• Your settings, such as your chosen background, and the fact that you accepted these policies
None of this is accessible to us or any third party. It is retained until you remove it (for example, by using "Forget" on a TV in Settings) or uninstall the App.
4. How the App Talks to Your TV
All communication happens directly between your device and your TV over your local Wi-Fi network. Specifically, the App:
• Sends discovery messages on your local network to find Samsung TVs
• Connects directly to your TV to send remote commands, check whether it is on or muted, and look up which apps are installed
• Sends a standard "Wake-on-LAN" signal on your local network when you use the power button to turn the TV on
None of this traffic goes to the internet or to us. The App does not need an internet connection to work.
Your TV: When you first pair, your TV may list the App by name as a connected device in its own settings. Information held by your TV is governed by Samsung's own privacy policy, not this one.
5. Permissions
• Network access: used only to communicate with TVs on your local network, as described in Section 4
• Wi-Fi state and multicast: used to discover TVs on your network
• Photos: Mr. Channel Changer does not request access to your photo library. If you choose your own picture for an app tile or the background, Android's built-in photo picker shares only that one image with the App. The App copies a small, resized version of it to its own storage on your device and has no access to your other photos.
6. Links and Email
When you open our Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy, the App hands the link to your web browser. When you tap "Contact us," the App opens your email app with our address filled in. What happens from there is handled by those apps and their own privacy policies, not by Mr. Channel Changer.
7. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any user data to third parties because we do not have access to your data.
• No data is transmitted to our servers
• No data is shared with analytics companies
• No data is used for advertising purposes
• No data is sold to third parties
Legal Disclosure: Because we do not collect or store user data, we cannot disclose such information in response to legal requests. All user data remains exclusively on your device.
8. Third-Party Services
Mr. Channel Changer does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and no SDKs that collect data are included in this app.
9. Data Security
Your data security depends largely on your device's security measures:
• Use device lock screens, PINs, or biometric authentication
• Keep your device's operating system updated
• Use a password-protected home Wi-Fi network
Our security posture:
• The pairing key for your TV is stored encrypted on your device
• On TVs that use encrypted connections, the App verifies the TV's security certificate on every connection
• No user accounts or passwords are required
• No central database exists that could be compromised
10. User Rights and Control
Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
• Access: View your paired TVs, app list, and settings in the App
• Deletion: Use "Forget" on a TV to delete its pairing key, app list, colors, and pictures, or uninstall the App to remove everything
• Your TV: You can also remove the App from your TV's list of connected devices in the TV's own settings
11. Children's Privacy
Mr. Channel Changer does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since we collect no information from anyone, this applies universally.
12. Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this Privacy Policy in a meaningful way, we will update the effective date above, note the changes in the App's release notes, and ask you to review and accept the updated policy in the App. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact Information
